Food that keeps you warm this winter

If you want to stick to comfort foods this winter you may but what about eating foods that actually keep you warm this winter, yes we mean internally. There are ‘n’ numbers of foods, which have the capacity to deliver you the heat in winters. Root vegetables and winter veggies like carrots, potatoes and sweet potatoes, and hearty winter greens like kale and cabbage tend to keep you warm in winter.

Vegetables cooked with grains and vegetables also keep you warm in winters as they are most easily digested, emitting the heat to keep your body warm. Apart from vegetables there are certain spices that keep your body warm like ginger, garlic, cinnamon, turmeric, cloves, cumin, coriander, fennel, dill seed and anise seed, mustard seeds and peppercorn. These spices not only keep your body warm but can also avoid digestive and whooping cough. A bite of ginger and peppercorn every morning can cure you from cold and fennel, dill seed and anise seed can cure your digestive problems this winter. You can rug ginger paste over mutton and barbecue it to have a warm and healthy food this winter or you can stir fry cabbage and potatoeswith a pinch of turmeric powder and a dash of cinnamon powder and salt, for a comfy casserole.

You can amply use herbs like basil, mint, coriander leaves and bay leaves in your food or have a concoction of all the herbs along with tea leaves, to keep out the chill. You can have an herb and tea concoction in place of tea this winter.

Meats like goat, beef and deer meat and other red meats can keep you warm because of the fat content, but it is advisable to take grilled chicken rubbed with spices or lean beef to keep the chill away from health too.

You just have to combine, mix-n-match the ingredients that keep you warm and prepare your meal of the day.
